Sobre las causas del conflicto en Colombia existe una vasta discusión académica y una extensa bibliografía, pero hay una relación que atraviesa toda esa historia y que resulta ineludible: el vínculo entre el acceso a la tierra, la profunda desigualdad agraria y la violencia política. Una causalidad que se ancla con fuerza desde mediados del siglo XX, cuando en los años sesenta surgen las guerrillas comunistas marxistas leninistas, en buena medida como respuesta a la exclusión en la tenencia de la tierra, y cuando, casi de manera simultánea, el Estado abre por primera vez la compuerta de una reforma agraria para intentar contener ese conflicto emergente. A esa raíz vuelve el profesor Francisco Gutiérrez Sanín en su más reciente libro Tierra, guerra y política. La vuelta a las raíces, una investigación que, lejos de dar por cerrado el conflicto en 2016, muestra cómo una parte fundamental de esa violencia persiste. Antropólogo y politólogo, investigador del Iepri de la Universidad Nacional, Gutiérrez demuestra cómo el cierre de las reformas agrarias en la década de los setenta y el bloqueo a los cambios estructurales estuvieron acompañados por un incremento de la violencia, especialmente contra quienes desafiaban el establecimiento político. Un libro provocador y necesario que invita a repensar el origen del conflicto armado y que explica por qué Francisco Gutiérrez es el invitado de hoy.
