En medio de las protestas que se multiplican en las principales ciudades de Estados Unidos contra los excesos de poder y las decisiones de Donald Trump en su intento de reordenar el mundo, desde su interés en Groenlandia hasta el Canal de Panamá, salió a la luz una revelación de enorme impacto: la divulgación de cerca de tres millones de documentos, ciento ochenta mil imágenes y más de dos mil videos que conforman los llamados archivos de Jeffrey Epstein. El material expone el funcionamiento de una de las redes de explotación sexual más poderosas y opacas de las últimas décadas, tejida alrededor de un financiero que utilizó su influencia para acercarse a figuras centrales del poder político y económico mundial. Estas revelaciones son el resultado de años de lucha de las víctimas, muchas de ellas abusadas cuando eran menores de edad, que hoy exigen verdad y justicia. Sin embargo, la publicación de los archivos ha sido lenta, fragmentada y dolorosa, en medio de tensiones políticas y del debate sobre si el Departamento de Justicia está revelando todo o protegiendo a los poderosos involucrados. Epstein, condenado en 2008 por delitos sexuales y posteriormente acusado de liderar esta red junto a su entorno más cercano, murió en prisión antes de enfrentar un nuevo juicio, dejando abiertas preguntas que siguen persiguiendo al sistema.
