Ecuador se ha vuelto un laboratorio regional de la militarización y la mano dura, un experimento que intenta importar la “franquicia Bukele” para recuperar el control frente al crimen organizado, pero que está logrando lo contrario. A pesar del despliegue militar y de planes con nombres épicos, el país cerró 2025 con más de nueve mil asesinatos, la cifra más alta de su historia. La semana pasada, un líder criminal fue asesinado a plena luz del día en el aeropuerto de Guayaquil. Después, el presidente Daniel Noboa declaró por segunda vez un conflicto armado interno y ofreció inmunidad a militares extranjeros que participen en operaciones en el país. Esta semana hablamos con el politólogo e investigador académico Juan Pablo Luna sobre por qué el modelo salvadoreño no está funcionando en el complejo y fragmentado tablero ecuatoriano, y qué riesgos trae para la región que la excepción se convierta en una forma permanente de gobierno.
