Pocas cosas escuecen tan públicamente como que tu país pierda en el Mundial de Fútbol de la FIFA. Que lo diga, por ejemplo, el seleccionador de Francia, Didier Deschamps, que nada más terminar el partido en el que su equipo cayó ante España 2 a 0 se rehusó a hablar en castellano -lengua que maneja casi a la perfección- y se dedicó a criticar al árbitro del encuentro, aunque sin poder indicar muy bien qué había hecho mal.
En este episodio de Hoy en EL PAÍS, nos tomamos un momento para honrar a los derrotados. De 48 selecciones que disputaban la copa, ahora solo quedan 2. Con suerte para nosotros, una de ellas es España.
David Álvarez, que está cubriendo el torneo desde Estados Unidos, hace un recuento de los momentos clave de esta edición, y también recuerda varias de las derrotas más duras que ha vivido este deporte, que han resonado aún años después de haber ocurrido.
