La rendición de Granada: Capitulaciones, llaves y Suspiro del Moro

El 2 de enero de 1492, Granada dejó de ser el último reino musulmán de la Península Ibérica. La historia de la rendición de Granada se escenificó con una escena solemne de entrega de llaves de la ciudad, reyes victoriosos y banderas cristianas ondeando sobre la Alhambra, pero antes de eso hubo semanas de asedio, de hambre de la población, miedo, mucha diplomacia secreta, cálculos políticos con los que se decidía el futuro de la población y promesas que pronto empezarían a no cumplirse.
En este episodio de Noches de Historia viajamos a los últimos meses del reino nazarí, cuando Boabdil, atrapado entre una ciudad exhausta y un asedio imposible de resistir, decide negociar una salida que evite la destrucción total de Granada. A través de emisarios, encuentros nocturnos y pactos discretos, se gestan las Capitulaciones de Granada, un documento de 46 artículos que prometía respetar la religión, la lengua, las propiedades y las costumbres de los granadinos musulmanes.
Pero aquel acuerdo, firmado para salvar vidas y preservar la Alhambra, acabaría convirtiéndose en el prólogo de una desaparición. La entrega de las llaves a los Reyes Católicos, la entrada de las tropas cristianas en la ciudad, el izado del pendón de Castilla en la Torre de la Vela y el posterior exilio de Boabdil marcaron el final político de Al-Ándalus.
También hablaremos del Suspiro del Moro, una de las leyendas más famosas de la historia de España: la imagen de Boabdil mirando Granada por última vez y escuchando el reproche de su madre, Aixa. Una escena emocionante y repetida durante siglos, aunque con una fiabilidad histórica mucho más dudosa de lo que suele contarse.
Granada no fue derrotada en una batalla heroica. Granada fue entregada tras una rendición política mediante un pacto.
Y detrás de aquella rendición había existían intereses económicos que defender y donde la decisión fue negociar para no perderlo todo.
