El 13 de octubre de 1972, cuando Carlos Páez tenía 18 años, emprende un viaje a Chile que cambiaría su vida para siempre. El avión en el que viajaba Carlos Páez, junto con otros 44 pasajeros, se estrella en el medio de la Cordillera de Los Andes a 4200 metros de altura.
Entre los 16 supervivientes se encontraba Carlos Páez, escritor y conferenciante, que ha recogido sus experiencias vitales en los libros 'Después del día diez' y 'Desde la cordillera del alma'. Más allá de los gritos, el amasijo de hierros, los muertos y la historia épica que protagonizaron para salir de la cordillera después de 72 días, el autor recuerda cómo hicieron posible lo imposible. "Nuestra historia fue una historia netamente grupal, de trabajo en equipo. Tuvimos el accidente de avión, recibimos la noticia de que no nos buscaban más, tomamos la decisión de alimentarnos de nuestros compañeros muertos, sufrimos una avalancha, no funcionaba la radio… El "no" fue permanente en nuestra historia. Pero el gran aprendizaje fue decir 'sí' al 'no'".
Tras 10 días de búsquedas inútiles, en un lugar donde según señalan los expertos era imposible sobrevivir, las autoridades deciden suspender los esfuerzos y aceptar que ya no volverían con vida. 72 días después, cuando sus compañeros, Nando Parrado y Roberto Canessa atraviesan los Andes en busca de ayuda, el mundo se entera de que 16 han sobrevivido. La fe, la pasión, el trabajo en equipo y la actitud, fueron la clave en el desenlace de la historia más increíble de supervivencia que el mundo ha presenciado hasta el momento.
