María Ángeles Durán: "Hay que inventar un modo distinto de estar en el mundo"

¿Cómo será el mundo y la sociedad después de esta época de incertidumbre? La doctora en Ciencias Políticas y catedrática de Sociología, María Ángeles Durán, sostiene que los cambios afectarán al corazón mismo de las sociedades que hoy conocemos. No solo habrá que adaptarse al teletrabajo y el distanciamiento social, sino que también habrá que repensar cómo proteger a nuestros mayores de futuras crisis sanitarias.
"Esta pandemia creo que afectará a la idea de lo que es la calidad de vida, el derecho que cada persona tenga a decidir qué es lo que quiere y qué es lo que no quiere en relación con los últimos años de su vida. Tenemos que pensar que, cuando seamos dos mil millones de personas mayores de 65 años, el grupo de edad que más crece en toda la población mundial, habrá que inventar un modo distinto de estar en el mundo para las personas mayores", reflexiona.
María Ángeles Durán es doctora 'honoris causa' por las universidades Autónoma de Madrid, Valencia y Granada, ha dirigido el Departamento de Análisis Socioeconómico del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) y en la actualidad imparte cursos de postgrado y realiza trabajos de asesoramiento para diversos organismos e instituciones internacionales. Fue la primera mujer que logró una cátedra de Sociología en 1982, la primera que recibió el Premio Pascual Madoz para Ciencias Jurídicas, Sociales y Económicas, la primera presidenta de la Federación Española de Sociología y también la pionera que recibió el Premio Nacional de Investigación en Sociología y Ciencia Política 2018. Ha publicado más de 200 obras sobre envejecimiento poblacional, desigualdad, feminismo y salud, con títulos como 'La riqueza invisible del cuidado', 'Los costes no sanitarios de las enfermedades crónicas' o 'Si Aristóteles levantara la cabeza'. En la última década ha desarrollado su trabajo de investigación sobre el "cuidatoriado", una clase social emergente formada por "las que cuidan", normalmente mujeres que atienden a sus mayores dependientes, sin remuneración ni derechos ni visibilidad.
