In July 2024, just three days before settling with Mica's family, JP Miller filed a seven-page affidavit and more than 65 exhibits in probate court — texts, emails and invoices he believed proved he was a loving husband. He filed them himself. Unsealed. On purpose.
Investigative Journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell walk through documents from their first six weeks of marriage, a civil ceremony kept secret so his 23-year-old bride could move in "without living in sin" before her surgery, undecipherable emails that began two weeks later and a sudden psychiatric diagnosis.
Plus we examine a three-page email titled "Our Life" — sent nine days before their church wedding — in which JP told Mica exactly who she was allowed to be, blaming their troubles on a "vicious attack from the enemy," because "the devil is a liar."
Coercive control rarely leaves a record, because the abuser controls the record... JP Miller entered his into evidence.
