Bienvenidos al primer viaje en el cual nos van a acompañar en vivo y en directo, y para más sentido especial, iremos a un destino maravilloso: Grecia. Esta serie se hace con motivo del viaje que tendremos a Grecia en el mes de septiembre. A veces vemos a los griegos antiguos como un asunto de otros tiempos, pero la verdad es que las referencias al mundo griego están en todo lado: desde las palabras que usamos a diario al levantarnos, la medicina, la ciencia y la política, hasta el alfabeto que permitió plasmar con precisión la voz humana. En este episodio caminamos primero por las raíces de nuestro vocabulario cotidiano y las civilizaciones del mar Egeo anteriores a los griegos, como los minoicos de Creta y los guerreros micénicos; después entramos en el colapso del 1200 a.C. y la llamada Edad Oscura, pasamos por la revolución del alfabeto que fijó las historias de Homero y llegamos a la teogonía de Hesíodo con los mitos del origen del cosmos. Esta es la historia de cómo una cultura milenaria sembró los cimientos del pensamiento, la lengua y la imaginación de Occidente.

  1. El legado vivo del idioma griego en nuestra cotidianidad: Aunque parezca lejano, usamos el griego todo el día: sandalias (sandálion), esponja (spongós), higiene (hygieia), teléfono o televisor. Desde la creación de un alfabeto con vocales hace unos 2.800 años, el griego bautizó profesiones, ciencias (física, química, biología), ramas médicas (cardiología, dermatología, neurología), la geografía e incluso palabras sagradas como Cristo, Biblia o Iglesia.
  2. Antes de ser griegos: los minoicos de Creta: En el mar Egeo floreció una civilización que no hablaba griego pero sentó las bases del mundo posterior: los minoicos de Creta, con grandes palacios y redes comerciales. Hacia 1500 a.C. la erupción de Thera (Santorini) cubrió Akrotiri de ceniza, y hacia 1450 a.C. guerreros de tierra firme destruyeron los palacios, quedando Cnosos en manos de los primeros hablantes de griego.
  3. El Wanax, el Damos y los micénicos: Descubiertos por Heinrich Schliemann en Micenas y confirmados en 2015 con el "Guerrero Griffin" de Pilos, los micénicos se organizaban bajo un rey (wanax) y comunidades locales (damos, raíz de democracia). Usaban la escritura Lineal B para la administración y eran conocidos por hititas (Ahhiyawa) y egipcios (Tanaju)
  4. El colapso de sistemas y la Edad Oscura: Hacia 1200 a.C. cayó el mundo micénico junto con Troya y el imperio hitita debido a un colapso sistémico general y la presencia de los "hombres del mar". Siguió una etapa sin escritura y de baja demográfica (la Edad Oscura), donde llegó el trabajo del hierro desde Chipre y los dorios se asentaron en Grecia central y Anatolia.
  5. La revolución del alfabeto y Homero: Al adaptar el sistema fenicio e incorporar vocales hacia el 800 a.C., los griegos crearon un sistema de apenas veinte signos exactos. Este invento permitió fijar por escrito la Ilíada y la Odisea, poemas transmitidos oralmente en verso hexámetro que reflejan la tensión entre reyes guerreros y asambleas libres.
  6. La mitología griega y la Teogonía de Hesíodo: Hesíodo relató el origen del cosmos a partir del Caos inicial, del cual surgen Gea (la Tierra) y Urano (el Cielo). La castración de Urano por parte de Cronos con una hoz de pedernal dio origen a las Erinias, los Gigantes y a Afrodita, nacida de la espuma del mar en Citera y Chipre.
