Esta vez fuimos a Toronto, la puerta de entrada al Canadá anglófono. De nuevo nos encontramos con una nación que ha hecho de la diversidad su mayor fortaleza y en dos capítulos explicaremos lo vanguardista y hospitalaria que es la sociedad canadiense. En este episodio caminamos primero por el protocolo del "Land Acknowledgement" y por los mitos de creación de las Primeras Naciones que habitaron la región de Tkaronto (Toronto) mucho antes de que existiera cualquier frontera; después entramos en la disputa franco-británica por el comercio de pieles, pasamos por la Guerra de los Siete Años que definió el destino imperial del territorio y la llegada de los Leales que huyeron de la independencia estadounidense. Esta es la historia de cómo un territorio de naciones soberanas terminó convertido, por capas sucesivas de tratados, guerras y migraciones, en el Canadá que hoy conocemos.

El Land Acknowledgement de Toronto: El reconocimiento del territorio es un protocolo formal que se pronuncia al inicio de eventos públicos en Canadá, impulsado masivamente desde 2015 por la Comisión de la Verdad y Reconciliación.
El mito de la Isla de la Tortuga: El relato de origen de la nación Ojibwe/Anishinaabe que explica el origen de América del Norte (en inglés) a partir de la cooperación entre animales y seres humanos.
Las Primeras Naciones y la cosmovisión indígena: Mucho antes de la llegada europea, el territorio canadiense albergaba pueblos con complejas expresiones culturales, sociales y religiosas propias. Esta realidad permanece al día de hoy y es un fundamento clave para entender la sociedad del Canadá
La Guerra de los Siete Años y la identidad dual: Gran Bretaña obtuvo el control definitivo de Canadá en 1763 al concluir la Guerra de los Siete Años. A pesar de la conquista, las raíces francesas perduraron en Quebec, sembrando la identidad dual francófona y anglófona que sigue definiendo al país.
El impacto demográfico de los Leales: Tras la independencia estadounidense de 1776, entre 40.000 y 50.000 "leales" a la Corona huyeron hacia el norte, siendo este uno de los grandes hechos que explican el origen del Canadá anglófono.
