También se examina la visión del absurdo en Meursault, protagonista de El extranjero, y la obsesión destructiva del Capitán Ahab en Moby Dick. Se aborda al doctor Frankenstein como figura del científico irresponsable, a Raskolnikov como emblema de la culpa, y a Sherlock Holmes como una caricatura de la razón extrema.
