Equipo de Investigación analiza el fenómeno que supuso la irrupción televisiva de Gregorio Sánchez, un cantaor a punto de jubilarse, que se convirtió en el humorista español que más dinero ha ganado haciendo reír a todo un país. En 2017 Chiquito muere viudo y sin descendencia. Sus sobrinos creen que van a heredar su fortuna. La sorpresa se desata cuando en el testamento hay una única heredera universal: su sobrina Loli.
En este episodio de Equipo de Investigación, Gloria Serra se adentra en la vida, el legado y la polémica herencia del inolvidable Gregorio Sánchez, más conocido como Chiquito de la Calzada. Desde su fulgurante salto a la fama con más de 60 años hasta convertirse en una figura irrepetible del humor español, el programa traza una radiografía completa de su impacto cultural, su ascenso económico y la batalla familiar que se desató tras su muerte.
El reportaje arranca con los orígenes humildes de Chiquito, su paso como cantaor por Japón, y su inesperado estallido televisivo en los años 90, cuando revolucionó el lenguaje popular con expresiones como “fistro”, “pecador” o “hasta luego, Lucas”. Gracias a un estilo único, llegó a batir récords de audiencia, compartir cartel con grandes estrellas, convertirse en icono publicitario y protagonizar taquillazos en el cine. Su éxito fue tan arrollador como tardío, y lo vivió siempre junto a su inseparable esposa Pepita.
Pero el foco se traslada a su vida personal tras el fallecimiento de su mujer, cuando Chiquito encontró en su sobrina Loli un apoyo fundamental en sus últimos años. Para sorpresa de muchos, fue ella la única heredera de todo su patrimonio: propiedades, joyas, derechos de imagen y las rentas de una carrera multimillonaria. Esta decisión provocó malestar entre otros miembros de la familia, quienes consideraban que la herencia debía haberse repartido. El episodio expone la tensión generada entre “los dos bandos”, la entrega de medallas póstumas con cambios de última hora y hasta las disputas por el destino de estatuas en homenaje al humorista.
