El auge de los pastores evangélicos con datáfono seduce a la derecha

Las iglesias evangélicas, y en especial las corrientes pentecostales y neopentecostales, crecen en España al calor de nuevas comunidades migrantes, sobre todo latinoamericanas. El fenómeno ya se ve en la publicidad del metro, en los grupos de oración por WhatsApp, en los templos instalados en naves industriales y en macroeventos gratuitos que reúnen a decenas de miles de personas con mensajes de salvación, sanación y prosperidad.
Estos espacios ofrecen comunidad, compañía y una red de apoyo a personas recién llegadas o en situación precaria, pero también plantean preguntas sobre la relación entre fe, dinero e influencia. Algunos pastores vinculan la creencia religiosa con donaciones, sacrificios y promesas de mejora material. Madrid concentra ejemplos llamativos, como la llamada “milla de oro evangélica” de Carabanchel, con decenas de templos en naves industriales, o grandes encuentros en recintos como el Metropolitano y Vistalegre.
En este episodio de Hoy en EL PAÍS, Ana Fuentes conversa con la periodista Lucía Franco, autora de un reportaje sobre el auge del evangelismo en Madrid, y con Eduardo Saldaña, codirector de El Orden Mundial. Juntos analizan por qué estas iglesias crecen entre comunidades migrantes vulnerables, cómo se han extendido desde Estados Unidos y América Latina y por qué sectores de la derecha se acercan a ellas por su capacidad de movilizar voto latino, pese a las contradicciones con parte de su discurso migratorio.
