Cabello, quien fue ministra de justicia de Duque, se defiende al decir que va no tiene color político y que va a seguir sancionando a funcionarios elegidos por voto popular, una función a la que Petro se ha opuesto desde que fue destituido como alcalde de Bogotá. En medio de este enfrentamiento, la procuradora tomó decisiones contra dos rivales de Petro en la campaña presidencial: Rodolfo Hernández y Sergio Fajardo.
