“No pueden ellos ver mejor lo que conviene a cada sujeto”: gobernanzas conventuales

En este episodio, grabado en directo desde el auditorio del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, recuperamos tratados de gobierno conventual, una tipología textual olvidada y denostada que, sin embargo, demuestra que, desde finales del siglo XVI, las mujeres rigieron sus vidas en la clausura guiadas por dos premisas: la primera, que «no pueden ellos (los hombres) ver mejor lo que conviene a cada sujeto» y, la segunda, que «aunque sé los muchos santos que de esto han escrito y cada día escriben, creo que sus levantados espíritus no se aplican a menudencias de mujeres [...] y pues nosotras lo somos, tendremos licencia de advertirnos y enseñarnos». Monjas como las carmelitas María de San José y Ana de Jesús, la agustina Mariana de San José o la clarisa Sor Francisca de Jesús de Borja y Enríquez se empeñaron en huir de la autoridad escolástica y optaron, machaconamente, por una construcción de la vida comunitaria siempre inclinada hacia formas dialógicas y colaborativas. Guiadas, como siempre, por la firme convicción de que “todo lo que te esté pasando a ti, ya le pasó a alguien —probablemente a una monja— en los siglos XVI y XVII”, encontramos en las voces conventuales la genealogía perdida, e insospechada, de caminos alternativos (tal vez más utópicos) de pensar la gobernanza y las políticas públicas.
