Ya no es una crisis. Son múltiples crisis simultáneas que han sumergido a nuestra cancillería en el caos. Basta un breve recuento para entender cómo nuestra política exterior, usualmente un motivo de unidad y consenso, ha descendido de pronto en un pantano de confusión y perplejidad por la forma en que Chile está enfrentando a un mundo desafiante.


La lista es interminable. Veamos: la adhesión al Escudo de las Américas, rompiendo nuestra política de multilateralismo y no subyugación a ninguna potencia; el respaldo de Chile a acciones que van contra nuestras políticas permanentes, como los ataques militares a Venezuela e Irán; la ruptura del tratado de libre comercio con EEUU por la imposición de aranceles unilaterales; la errática respuesta al caso del cable chino, en que aceptamos en la práctica el patronzago de una potencia extranjera sobre nuestras decisiones; las múltiples intervenciones de los embajadores de EEUU e Israel en nuestra política interna; la ruptura del consenso interno con la interpelación al canciller y la carta de los expresidentes Boric y Bachelet, rompiendo la norma no escrita de que los conflictos en política exterior se resuleven en privado; el constante enfrentameitno dentro del gobierno entre los ministros de Defensa y de Relaciones Exteriores; la actuación y los antecedentes del embajador chileno en Israel, una designación que solo sirve a Tel Aviv y que nos trae dolores de cabeza por sus agresivas declaraciones contra la comunidad palestina en Chile y por sus nexos con el caso Hermosilla; el rearme de nuestros vecinos en medio de una carrera armamentista alentada por Washington; la decisión de quitarle el apoyo a la candidatura de Bachelet a la ONU; y la crisis con Argentina por el estrecho de Magallanes, convertida ahora en una crisis por las Malvinas.

Es el peor momento para tener a amateurs en nuestra política exterior, y el caso de las Malvinas es solo otra muestra, otra más, del caos en que está hundida nuestra política exterior.
