3137. Píldoras de inteligencia artificial: /compact

Hoy os hablo de /compact, una instrucción muy sencilla que permite resumir el contexto de una tarea y ahorrar un montón de tokens.

Pero antes, recordemos que en Boluda.com tenéis cursos para emprendedores, marketing online, desarrollo web, y todo lo que necesitáis para vuestro negocio online. Esta mañana veremos cómo definir la idea de negocio y esta tarde cómo crear una landing prototipo para nuestro producto mínimo viable. ¡A por él!

Ahora sí, vamos al lío. Como os comenté ayer, durante estas semanas voy a intentar ofreceros episodios más cortos, directos y prácticos. Pequeñas píldoras de inteligencia artificial que podáis aplicar inmediatamente. La de hoy es /compact.

Cuando trabajáis con un agente, cada nueva petición necesita el contexto de la conversación anterior. Al principio ese contexto es pequeño, pero va creciendo a medida que intercambiáis mensajes, analizáis archivos, tomáis decisiones y desarrolláis funcionalidades.

Esto tiene dos consecuencias. La primera es que la tarea puede acercarse al límite de contexto del modelo. La segunda es que cada nueva interacción arrastra una cantidad mayor de información. Si trabajáis mediante API, eso puede acabar suponiendo un consumo considerable de tokens.

Para evitarlo, podéis escribir simplemente /compact y pulsar Intro. Codex resume la conversación visible, elimina el ruido y conserva los datos importantes: qué estáis construyendo, qué decisiones habéis tomado, qué se ha modificado y qué queda pendiente.

A partir de ese momento, el agente ya no necesita cargar con toda la conversación palabra por palabra. Trabaja con ese resumen y con las nuevas instrucciones que vayáis añadiendo. Así liberáis espacio de contexto y evitáis seguir arrastrando saludos, pruebas, errores ya resueltos y explicaciones que dejaron de ser relevantes.

Los agentes pueden compactar automáticamente cuando se acercan al límite, pero yo prefiero hacerlo en un momento que tenga sentido. Por ejemplo, al terminar una sesión de trabajo, cuando una funcionalidad ya funciona o antes de empezar una fase nueva del proyecto.

Es como cerrar una tienda al final del día. Bajo la persiana, ejecuto /compact y dejo la tarea preparada para retomarla al día siguiente con todo lo importante ordenado.

Eso sí, no os recomiendo compactar en mitad de un trabajo delicado. Si el agente está desarrollando una funcionalidad, revisando un error o siguiendo una secuencia de pasos, esperad a cerrar ese bloque. La idea es escoger vosotros el punto natural en lugar de dejar que la compactación os interrumpa cuando menos conviene.

Así pues, el briconsejo de hoy es muy sencillo: cuando terminéis una sesión larga con Codex, probad /compact. Tendréis una tarea más limpia, aprovecharéis mejor el contexto disponible y, si pagáis por API, podréis ahorrar una buena cantidad de tokens. :)
