
¿Cómo proteger a niñas y niños? Lo que revela el estudio FADES

¿Qué hay detrás de quienes dañan a niñas, niños y adolescentes, y cómo podemos llegar antes? En este episodio especial Saskia Niño de Rivera conversa con Mercedes Castañeda, cofundadora de Reinserta, y con Nicolás Martínez, psiquiatra forense e investigador principal de FADES, el estudio de Reinserta y el Instituto Nacional de Psiquiatría que comenzó a idearse hace cerca de 13 años.
El objetivo no es justificar a nadie. Es entender qué factores, creencias y contextos aparecen alrededor de estos casos para prevenirlos mejor y proteger a la infancia.
Los hallazgos rompen mitos muy arraigados. No existe un solo perfil: no hay una apariencia, una clase social ni un diagnóstico que permita identificar a quien hace daño. Solo el 3.1% de la muestra presentó un tamizaje positivo para algún trastorno psiquiátrico y la mayoría actuó por oportunidad. Un punto clave es la falta de comprensión del consentimiento. El 96.3% de la muestra fueron hombres, con una edad promedio de 43 a 44 años. Más de un tercio dijo que en su infancia no tuvo a quién contarle lo que vivía. El estudio tampoco encontró psicopatía, sino una disminución de la empatía ligada a la normalización de conductas que dañan.

También hablamos del sesgo del propio sistema penal, que en México criminaliza la pobreza, y de por qué muchas de estas personas son calladas y se ganan la confianza de su entorno.
Escuchamos voces de personas que cometieron algún daño a infancias: un hombre que llegó a prisión por unas fotos que recibió en un grupo de mil personas y nunca eliminó, otro que explica cómo se ganaba la confianza con apoyo y atención, uno cuya familia repetía "llévatelo hasta la tumba" y otro que sintió alivio el día que lo detuvieron.
Mercedes Castañeda explica por qué la prevención no puede recaer solo en niñas y niños y por qué el vínculo y la atención de los adultos son la mejor herramienta.
FADES propone actuar en tres momentos: antes, cuando aparecen señales y después, para evitar que se repita. En México no existen programas de tratamiento para estas personas ni un protocolo que impida que un niño visite en la cárcel a quien le hizo daño.
Entender no borra la responsabilidad ni repara el daño, pero sí nos ayuda a reconocer señales, romper silencios y llegar antes.
