Javier creció en un barrio de Ciudad de México que él mismo describe como peligroso, criado por su tía después de que sus padres se separaran cuando él tenía apenas tres años.
A los 11 empezó a fumar marihuana y a los 12, por encajar en un grupo de amigos, cometió su primer asalto: lo detuvieron, pasó cinco días en el Consejo Tutelar de Menores, pagaron una fianza y tuvo que asistir a terapia. Durante diez años nadie volvió a detenerlo, hasta que a los 22 la justicia finalmente lo alcanzó: le dictaron una sentencia inicial de doce años, que terminó reducida a tres años nueve meses. Salió, pero en menos de dos meses volvió a delinquir; esta vez fue enviado al Norte, donde lleva ya casi ocho años.

A tres meses de obtener su libertad, Javier reflexiona sobre el daño irreversible que causó a sus víctimas, el reencuentro con su madre tras más de cinco años sin verla, y lo que significa para él volver a empezar.
