Bienvenidos a Relatos de la Historia, un programa que narra las biografías de personajes históricos, aderezadas con algunas ficciones sonoras.
Hoy vamos a cumplir con lo que os prometí. Arranca el primer capítulo de la nueva serie. Una serie sobre la Guerra de las rosas de Inglaterra. Una guerra entre los York y los Lancaster por el poder del reino y que terminaría con Enrique VIII en el trono.
Pero como la Guerra de las rosas no fue un conflicto sencillo ni corto, hace falta viajar un poquito antes (un siglo antes) para saber de dónde proceden estas dos familias. Y hoy lo haremos conociendo el origen de la casa de Lancaster a través de su antepasado, Juan de Gante. Hablamos del primer Duque de Lancaster. Padre de la dinastía de Lancaster que terminaría gobernando justo antes del estallido de la guerra en el siglo XV, hijo del rey Plantagenet Eduardo III y combatiente de dos guerras fundamentales: La Guerra de los Cien años y la Guerra de los Trastámara (podéis complementar este capítulo con los episodios 1 y 3 de la saga de los Trastámara).
Un personaje fascinante que aunque no vivió la guerra de las rosas, es fundamental para entender su origen.
