Jorge Muñoz es pediatra y escritor, que ejerce desde hace tres décadas en Palma de Mallorca. Acaba de publicar el libro 'Doctor, ¿y ahora qué? Preguntas que solo le harías al pediatra de tus hijos', como resultado de su experiencia y paciencia ante las dudas más frecuentes sobre el cuidado de los pequeños. "Atragantamiento y fiebre" siguen siendo las preocupaciones comunes entre dos generaciones de padres, cada vez más abrumados por un exceso de información sobre la crianza. La lactancia materna, el neurodesarrollo, los cólicos o saber diferenciar entre un llanto por una rabieta y un problema de salud son algunos de los temas que recorre a través de sus páginas, con el objetivo de tranquilizar a los padres. Pero su experiencia no se limita a la consulta en Baleares. Desde hace 10 años colabora como pediatra en la República de Chad a partir de su primera vista al "corazón seco de África". Como fundador de la organización Ayuda al Chad contribuye a visibilizar los problemas sanitarios y humanitarios que asolan la región. "Mucha gente me ha preguntado: 'Jorge, ¿por qué vais? Si allí mueren todos'. Pues no es verdad, no mueren todos. Si con los pocos medios que tienes, consigues no perder a un pequeño, este crecerá y tendrá hijos, que crecerán… La expresión "salvar vidas" me parece muy arrogante: nadie es quién para salvar vidas. Pero sí puedes ayudar a que continúen. Siempre hay esperanza", concluye el doctor.
