José Luis tenía 20 años cuando lo detuvieron por un robo de auto que jura no haber cometido. Era comerciante, vendía dulces en las calles de la Ciudad de México y luchaba contra el alcoholismo que lo llevó a deambular por lugares equivocados. Esa noche de diciembre de 2006 cambió su vida para siempre.

Fue absuelto del robo en 2009, pero para entonces ya era demasiado tarde. Dentro del reclusorio, lo pusieron en una celda con una banda de secuestradores que controlaba la cárcel desde adentro. Cuando mataron a alguien en 2007, amenazaron a José Luis y a su familia para que confesara el crimen. Por miedo, dijo que sí. Le dieron 12 años.
Apenas 20 días después, hubo un motín. Cinco personas murieron. A una la apuñalaron más de 60 veces entre siete personas. Otra vez lo buscaron a él para que pagara el homicidio. Otra vez dijo que sí. Esta vez: 62 años y tres meses de prisión.
José Luis lleva 19 años en prisión. Cambió su vida en 2013, lleva 12 años sin un solo castigo, estudia preparatoria, hace payasos de filigrana, lee libros de superación personal. Sigue creyendo que algún día va a salir y va a poder abrazar a su mamá.
Esta es la historia de alguien que nunca tocó un arma, que nunca robó en la calle, que terminó cargando crímenes ajenos en una cárcel donde la vida valía 10 mil pesos y el miedo mandaba más que la justicia.
