Gustavo Zerbino es uno de los 16 supervivientes del trágico accidente de avión de los Andes de 1972 y una de las voces más representativas de la historia real de La Sociedad de la Nieve. Hoy en día es todo un experto en superación y liderazgo.
En este capítulo de Roca Project, Gustavo Zerbino relata cómo sobrevivieron esos fatídicos 72 días, qué ocurrió realmente y por qué esta historia es, sobre todo, un ejemplo extremo de humanidad, cooperación y trabajo en equipo para sobrevivir. Desde la intuición previa al vuelo, cuando sentía que no debía subirse a ese avión, hasta el accidente, las condiciones límite en la montaña y uno de los momentos más determinantes: cuando escucharon la cancelación de la búsqueda. Fue entonces cuando entendieron que ya no podían esperar ayuda externa y que vivir o morir dependía únicamente de ellos.
En ese contexto nace algo clave: un pacto entre todos. Si alguno moría entregaba su cuerpo para que los demás pudieran comerlo y seguir viviendo. Lejos de cualquier impulso, la decisión de alimentarse con la carne de sus compañeros fallecidos fue profundamente debatida y tomada de forma unánime. Una muestra del nivel de respeto, valores y liderazgo que lograron construir en medio de la adversidad.
Gustavo insiste en que habla en nombre de todos, tanto de los que sobrevivieron como de los que perdieron la vida en la montaña. Porque lo que realmente les permitió salir adelante no fue la fuerza individual, sino la cooperación en situaciones extremas, la gestión de la adversidad y una mentalidad de supervivencia basada en transformar el “yo” en “nosotros”.
