Existe un viento en la península arábiga capaz de volvernos locos. Y un lago misterioso en la India que alberga cientos de esqueletos. La luna a veces nos vuelve lunáticos y, algunos tiburones, son capaces de predecir huracanes. Nuestro planeta es fascinante. Su naturaleza y su clima son una fuente inagotable de belleza, curiosidad y misterio. Lo sabe bien la meteoróloga y doctora en Ciencias Físicas Mar Gómez.
Su pasión por comprender los secretos de la Tierra y el cosmos comenzó cuando era una niña. Una curiosidad científica que heredó de su madre, matemática de profesión. Pero, según afirma, se doctoró Cum Laude en Físicas gracias a su abuela. "Una mujer que no tuvo la oportunidad de estudiar, pero que siempre me inculcó su tesón y su constancia", explica con cariño. Mar Gómez aboga por la importancia de las mujeres en la ciencia y defiende la necesidad de que las niñas tengan referentes femeninos en este campo.
Excelente comunicadora, compagina su trabajo como meteoróloga en la página web eltiempo.es, con su labor de divulgación científica. Es directora y presentadora del podcast 'Planeta Oculto', donde explora los misterios ocultos más profundos de nuestro mundo y el universo. También es autora de dos libros: '¿En qué se parecen las gotas de lluvia al pan de hamburguesa: 120 curiosidades científicas relacionadas con la meteorología' (2021) y 'Meteorosensibles: cómo el tiempo influye en nuestra salud física y mental' (2023). Ha colaborado con importantes medios de comunicación nacionales e internacionales, como National Geographic, TVE o la BBC. También participa habitualmente como conferenciante en foros para la concienciación sobre el cambio climático.
