Antonio R. Almodóvar: ¿Qué tienen en común 'El gallo Kirico' y 'La guerra de las galaxias'?

Había una vez un Bello Durmiente, un Ceniciento y una Caperucita que se salvó a sí misma. El detective y alquimista de esta historia es Antonio Rodríguez Almodóvar, que relata: "Los cuentos sufren mucho en su adaptación a lo que podía soportar la sociedad burguesa del siglo XIX".
El filólogo e investigador es un referente de la tradición oral en España. Licenciado y doctorado en Filología Moderna por la Universidad de Sevilla, comenzó sus pesquisas -grabadora al hombro- en los años 70. Recorrió toda la geografía española para rescatar los cuentos populares de boca de los que él llama "últimos narradores".
Gracias a su trabajo varias generaciones se introdujeron en el mundo de la lectura. A principios de los años 80 publicó la colección 'Cuentos de la media lunita', en la que reconstruía más de 60 historias del folclore oral. 'El gallo Kirico', 'La niña del zurrón' o 'Blancaflor' son algunos de los cuentos que volvieron a la vida y Rodríguez Almodóvar es el responsable de que muchos de ellos se utilicen ahora como material didáctico. "Esto hay que rehabilitarlo, no se puede perder - señala el escritor- porque los niños de hoy tienen derecho a saber cómo era el entretenimiento de sus padres, de sus abuelos, de sus bisabuelos". Y sin duda ha conseguido su objetivo: solo de esta colección ha vendido más de 4 millones de ejemplares.
R. Almodóvar -como acostumbra a firmar- es ensayista, novelista, poeta y dramaturgo. Autor de más de medio centenar de títulos, en su labor científico-literaria de recuperación destacan: 'Cuentos al amor de la lumbre', 'El bosque de los sueños' -por el que recibió el prestigioso Premio Nacional de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil- o 'La verdadera historia de caperucita'. Este investigador y miembro de la Real Academia de la Lengua Española cree en el poder universal de la narración oral: "Nadie escapa de la magia de un cuento". Y colorín colorado, merced a su labor, los cuentos continúan.
