Montse Sánchez Povedano: Cómo afrontar un trastorno alimentario en la adolescencia

La psicóloga clínica Montse Sánchez Povedano comenzó su especialización en trastornos de la conducta alimentaria (TCA) hace más de 25 años, cuando conoció los primeros casos de jóvenes con TCA, que eran tratadas en hospitales con el objetivo limitado de recuperar su masa corporal y autoestima.
Este primer contacto fue suficiente para entender la complejidad del trastorno y adentrarse en el mundo del sufrimiento emocional relacionado con la alimentación. Fundadora de los primeros Apartamentos Terapéuticos con carácter rehabilitador para TCA en España y de la clínica eātica, Sánchez Povedano ha compaginado su trabajo clínico con la docencia, como codirectora y docente del Máster de Intervención Psicológica en Trastornos de la Conducta Alimentaria y de la Obesidad, entre otros cursos de especialización universitaria. Detrás de las sombras de la anorexia y la bulimia, Sánchez Povedano ha investigado y tratado cientos de casos con un enfoque y atención médica global, que no solo se centra en revertir las secuelas de los TCA.
"Pensemos siempre que el trastorno alimentario, los problemas con el cuerpo, los problemas con la comida son la punta del iceberg. Al final, es una enfermedad que siempre responde a un conflicto emocional no resuelto. Un trastorno alimentario es una solución equivocada, una solución disfuncional, ante un problema para el que la persona no tiene herramientas para solucionarlo", advierte la doctora.
