Yokoi Kenji: El lenguaje que une a la humanidad

Creció entre la disciplina y el caos, sentado en mesas que combinaban sushi con bandejas paisas y normalizando que sus padres se comunicaran en dos lenguas totalmente diferentes. Yokoi Kenji, de madre colombiana y padre japonés, nació en Bogotá y pasó sus primeros años de vida en Latinoamérica, pero con tan solo diez años regresó con sus padres a Yokohama, Japón. "Siento una empatía profunda por dos culturas muy distintas, muy diferentes", reconoce Kenji.
No se considera coach, ni líder motivacional, pero sus palabras inundan la red en forma de memes y listados con frases motivadoras sobre disciplina, éxito y felicidad. El ahora trabajador social y conferenciante, ejerció durante años como traductor y guía de la comunidad latina que en los años noventa emigraba al país del sol naciente. De vuelta en América Latina, Kenji trabajó en las favelas de Río de Janeiro, Brasil, donde desarrolló una fuerte vocación social que fue el revulsivo de un proyecto de intercambio cultural para combatir el suicido en Japón y la mentalidad de pobreza en Latinoamérica. Es autor de 'Salón 8. Relatos de inspiración y liderazgo' y encabeza 'Turismo con propósito', un proyecto de turismo socia. Hijo del choque cultural, Kenji es a la vez crítico y amable con las culturas latina y japonesa. "El latino es adicto al caos, que requiere improvisar, no tener miedo, pararse muy fuerte. El japonés es disciplinado y tiene un fuerte sentido de tribu. Ahora, los dos en extremo generan patologías fuertes también, por eso mi conclusión es la búsqueda de equilibrio entre esas dos culturas", sentencia Kenji.
