En este episodio entrevistamos a Román de Castro, artista mexicano que nos comparte su historia de vida y su visión sobre la creatividad, el arte y la libertad de explorarnos sin miedo a fallar.
Román nació de padres muy jóvenes —su mamá tenía apenas 17 años— y creció en un entorno profundamente artístico. Desde pequeño tuvo algo que hoy no todos pueden darse: libertad para probar, equivocarse y descubrir quién era, lo que le enseñó confianza, curiosidad y la certeza de que intentar cosas nuevas nunca es un error.
Durante la conversación, Román reflexiona sobre cómo en la vida adulta muchas personas pierden el contacto con su creatividad. Nos habla de cómo todos somos creativos por naturaleza, pero el ritmo actual de la vida, la productividad constante y la falta de espacios para el aburrimiento han ido apagando esa parte esencial. Para él, aburrirse, imaginar y dejar que la mente divague es un lujo necesario para volver a conectar con lo que somos y con lo que queremos expresar.
También nos comparte su experiencia creciendo entre dos culturas: México y Brasil, ya que su madre es brasileña. Desde niño viajaba un par de veces al año para ver a su familia, aprendiendo a moverse entre mundos distintos y, sobre todo, a convivir con sentimientos como la nostalgia y el extrañar, emociones que hoy considera profundamente valiosas y que han marcado su sensibilidad artística.
Román nos cuenta cómo su camino en el arte comenzó sin expectativas ni ambición comercial: pintar era simplemente un hobby, una forma íntima de expresar lo que llevaba dentro. Fue gracias al impulso de sus amigos que decidió compartir su trabajo, y sin buscarlo, el mundo comenzó a conectar con su arte. Su crecimiento fue rápido y orgánico: de compartirlo de manera casual, pasó a exponer en galerías, vivir grandes momentos de reconocimiento y eventualmente llevar su obra a Europa y otros lugares del mundo.
Con mucha gratitud y humildad, Román deja claro que el arte no es elitista, ni depende de materiales caros, técnicas perfectas o validación externa. Para él, el arte vive dentro de todos y es una herramienta poderosa para expresarnos, sanar y entendernos mejor. Este episodio es una invitación a reconectar con nuestra creatividad, a permitirnos sentir, imaginar y recordar que crear también es una forma de estar vivos.
