El popular videojuego Pokémon Go vuelve a estar en el centro de la polémica, y no por una nueva actualización. En el programa Herrera en COPE, Carlos Herrera y Jorge Morla han desgranado un hecho que ha generado un intenso debate: la empresa propietaria, Niantic, ha estado utilizando los datos recopilados de sus millones de jugadores para fines muy distintos a los del juego.
Lanzado en 2016, Pokémon Go se convirtió en un fenómeno mundial y el primer gran éxito de la realidad aumentada en móviles, llegando a congregar a 100 millones de usuarios. El propio Carlos Herrera, presentador del programa, confesaba ser un gran aficionado: "nivel 49 de Pokémon Go, que soy yo". El juego proponía cazar criaturas virtuales en el mundo real usando la cámara y la geolocalización, algo que, como recuerda el jugador Kike Martín, fue un gran atractivo: "De conocer los juegos en las consolas a tener la oportunidad de cazar los pokémons en la vida real".
