El reciente paso de un asteroide del tamaño de una plaza de toros, bautizado como el asesino de ciudades, ha vuelto a poner sobre la mesa la vulnerabilidad de nuestro planeta. La roca, que pasó a un cuarto de la distancia que nos separa de la Luna, fue descubierta apenas unos días antes, el pasado 10 de mayo. Este evento ha sido analizado en el programa 'Herrera en COPE', donde el periodista Alberto Herrera y el escritor Javier Sierra han conversado con Juan San Nicolás, secretario del Observatorio Astronómico de Mallorca, sobre los peligros que acechan desde el espacio.
San Nicolás ha sido contundente al afirmar que la amenaza es constante y real. Según el experto, la gravedad terrestre convierte al planeta en una "aspiradora gigante" que atrae objetos continuamente. "Padeceremos el impacto de un asteroide, porque esto sucederá, nos guste o no, porque ha sucedido durante millones de años, es una cosa real, que no nos lo inventamos nosotros", ha sentenciado.
