La industria del videojuego facturó 2.012 millones de euros solo en España en 2022, lo que la convierte en una forma de ocio lucrativa y que algunos consideran que ya estamos ante el “décimo arte”. Nuestro invitado, Eneko Osaba, doctor en Inteligencia Artificial y director del podcast “Arqueología Nintendo”, nos hablará de esos pleitos y controversias que se han generado en torno a este mercado del ocio electrónico como, por ejemplo, cuando en los años 60, LEGO enjuició a Nintendo acusándola de plagio ya que la compañía japonesa comercializó un juguete de bloques que, descaradamente, era una copia de LEGO. En los años 80, Universal Studios denunció a Nintendo acusándola de plagio, argumentando que Donkey Kong era una copia de King Kong y, a pesar de todo, Nintendo ganó el juicio. También Nintendo emprendió una infructuosa lucha en EEUU en los años 80 con la intención de prohibir el alquiler de videojuegos porque consideraba que iba en contra del copyright de sus juegos y, para ello, se enfrentó directamente contra otro gigante: Blockbuster. En los años 90, se creó la polémica de introducir una calificación por edades en la aún incipiente industria del videojuego. Todo se inició a raíz, entre otras cosas, de la publicación de juegos de una violencia extrema, como Mortal Kombat.
