El episodio arranca en pausa: el doctor Almeida ha sufrido una crisis de tensión y el interrogatorio debe interrumpirse. Mientras tanto, Nuria y Gastón —los investigadores civiles que han sido convocados para indagar lo ocurrido en la misión Orfeo 1— reflexionan sobre el efecto perspectiva, ese cambio profundo y casi espiritual que afecta a quienes han estado lejos de la Tierra. Entre tensiones personales y dilemas éticos, ambos se preguntan si están preparados para escuchar la verdad completa… y si pueden soportarla sin perder la objetividad.
Cuando Almeida retoma su relato, lo hace con una claridad desgarradora. Describe con detalle la misión que lo llevó a Marte: una expedición sin gloria, marcada por el estigma de ser “carroñeros” espaciales, enviados no a descubrir sino a limpiar los restos de una tragedia. El objetivo era recuperar los cuerpos de los primeros colonos y preparar la base para una nueva oleada de habitantes, ignorando las señales de advertencia —científicas y simbólicas— que se habían acumulado tras la catástrofe original.
Almeida relata el descenso al planeta rojo con una mezcla de asombro y melancolía: la emoción de tocar suelo marciano se contrapone con el peso de saber que estaban entrando al mundo de los muertos. En una atmósfera densa, casi ritual, la tripulación lleva a cabo una ceremonia de purificación antes de acceder a la colonia abandonada. Lo que encuentran allí, sin embargo, desafía toda lógica científica. Algo —o alguien— parece habitar aún ese lugar. Y lo que parecía ser una misión técnica se transforma en una experiencia que pone en jaque su razón.
El episodio culmina con una confesión inquietante: Almeida, veterano del espacio y de escenarios extremos, admite que nada en su carrera lo había preparado para lo que encontró en la colonia Mars Tres. Su afirmación final, cargada de tensión, deja flotando una pregunta que marcará el rumbo del resto de la temporada: ¿puede la ciencia explicar todo lo que ocurre en los márgenes del universo… o hay límites que no deberíamos cruzar?
