Juan Sobrino: "Vivir sin leer te obliga a conformarte con la vida"

Activista de la lectura y director de la Biblioteca Municipal de Soto del Real desde 2006. Juan Sobrino es licenciado en Geografía e Historia por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, en la especialidad de Antropología Americana y posee una amplia formación en Biblioteconomía y Documentación. Una trayectoria que ensalza día a día llevando la lectura a residencias, centros penitenciarios y centros educativos con proyectos que tejen comunidad a través de los libros.
"Los servicios bibliotecarios surgen del convencimiento de que mejoran la calidad de vida de las personas". Gran defensor de la función social de las bibliotecas "como el corazón de un barrio", para él son lugares sagrados en los que "perderse para reencontrarse al pie de la existencia". Animándonos contemplar estos espacios como una inversión para hacer llegar los recursos educativos a todo tipo de colectivos, y promover la cultura en cada uno de nosotros mediante la práctica de la lectura compartida. "La magia de leer en voz alta estimula los patrones óptimos para el desarrollo del cerebro, y a su vez fomenta el lenguaje, la alfabetización y las habilidades socioemocionales", añade.
Elegido por la revista Forbes como una de las 100 Personas Más Creativas de España, Sobrino ha implementado proyectos sociales de animación a la lectura como: 'Biblioterapia para mayores', 'Libros que saltan muros', el taller 'Leyendo con mi mejor amigo', 'Cuentos que hilan vidas' o 'Lecturas que curan', entre otros. Además, es docente en el máster La Biblioteca como Agente de Transformación Socioeducativa de la UCM, ponente en numerosos congresos y autor de varias publicaciones.
