La isla de Taiwán, conocida en el pasado como Formosa, controlada y administrada por la República de China, se encuentra a 180 kilómetros al este de las costas de la China continental y en sus 36.000 km cuadrados atesora una situación política complicada con multitud de leyendas extrañas que han sido recogidas por el doctor en Literatura Comparadaen su obra 'Catálogo y estudio de leyendas urbanas en Taiwán'. Junto a él, estará el profesor de español y editor , director de ediciones Catay (los dos viven en Taiwán) y , conocedor de los intríngulis y misterios de esta isla. Todos ellos nos irán contando curiosas historias como la superstición del número 4, el sincretismo religioso, la creencia real y actual en espíritus, cómo son sus funerales coloridos o su concepto de la muerte. No faltarán lugares, montañas y objetos encantados, sobres rojos encontrados en un callejón, espejos mágicos o películas taiwanesas. Y muchas preguntas: ¿en qué consiste el mes de los fantasmas? ¿Hubo empanadillas con carne humana? ¿Es cierta la leyenda de la niña del chubasquero rojo? ¿Qué pasó con el barco de los 108 fantasmas? En fin, un buen muestrario de leyendas urbanas, muchas de ellas sobrenaturales, que tienen su presencia en el Taiwán actual. Como colofón, Miguel Salas nos leerá su relato bífido sobre un 'contenedor maldito'. Ah, y como acompañamiento no os olvidéis de los aperitivos Kuai Kuai...
