Renata nació en México, pero a los dos años la llevaron a Estados Unidos buscando el sueño americano. Lo que encontró fue una pesadilla que la acompañaría toda su vida. Las calles se convirtieron en su hogar, las drogas en su escape y la violencia en su única forma de sobrevivir.

Entre California y México, Renata vivió una vida marcada por la adicción. Fue madre de cinco hijas mientras luchaba contra sus demonios. El dolor la perseguía: una de sus bebés murió asesinada a los tres días de nacida como venganza; otra, de ocho años, fue secuestrada, torturada y asesinada. La maternidad y la adicción se entrelazaron de formas devastadoras, con una de sus hijas naciendo adicta por el consumo durante el embarazo. La violencia escaló cuando Renata se convirtió en sicaria, entrando en guerras territoriales entre familias del narcotráfico.
Hoy, Renata cumple una sentencia de 25 años en una cárcel mexicana. Lleva tres años sobria, reflexionando sobre las decisiones que la trajeron aquí. Habla de sus hijas que ya no puede abrazar, del perdón que no sabe si merece, y de cómo la prisión, paradójicamente, le salvó la vida. Tiene 35 años y saldrá cuando tenga 50, si es que sale. Esta es su historia, cruda y sin filtros, de violencia, adicción, pérdida y las consecuencias de una vida marcada por el abandono. Una conversación profunda sobre los ciclos de violencia, el sistema de justicia en México, y cómo el abandono infantil puede desencadenar una espiral que termina tras las rejas.
